Two sides of beauty, one timeless textile.
Our reversible Kani Collection alpaca throw blankets are a remarkable expression of artisan skill and timeless luxury. Handwoven by master weavers in Ecuador, each blanket offers something truly exceptional in the world of fine textiles: two distinct color stories woven seamlessly into one heirloom-quality throw.
One side reveals a rich, saturated powder blue and kelly green stripe woven with depth and warmth, perfect for adding a bold, modern layer to any space. Flip it over, and the mood transforms—an elegant, airy off-white blended with a hint of powder blue and kelly green creates a softer, more serene aesthetic that invites calm sophistication. It’s like having two impeccably designed textiles in one, each crafted with intention, harmony, and balance.
This reversible throw is not only visually stunning but also technically demanding. Achieving such softness and contrast on both sides requires meticulous craftsmanship, precise tension control, and deep expertise on the loom—skills preserved through generations of Ecuadorian weaving tradition.
After weaving, each throw is hand-brushed using the native Tesal plant, a traditional technique that enhances the alpaca fibers’ natural luster and creates the beautiful, signature sheen that sets these blankets apart. This finishing step adds an unmistakable softness and a refined glow that is impossible to replicate with modern machinery.
Crafted from luxuriously soft alpaca fibers, the throw offers fluid drape, featherweight warmth, and a tactile elegance. Whether styled for understated minimalism or bold accenting, this reversible design lets you refresh your entire space with nothing more than a simple fold or flip.
At Purple Nest Design, we are deeply committed to preserving the weaving arts, helping you to decorate your home with timeless textiles that tell a beautiful story.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who makes this?
Woven by hand by master weavers in Ecuador, using skills passed down through generations.
Is alpaca itchy?
No. Alpaca has no lanolin and a smoother fiber than wool, so most people who find wool scratchy find alpaca soft.
How is alpaca different from wool or cashmere?
Alpaca is warmer than wool for its weight, yet light and breathable thanks to its hollow fiber, so it works year-round. It is also stronger than cashmere: cashmere is soft but delicate, while alpaca gives you softness that lasts for years with simple care.
